Implementation Science is hot. Scientific evidence is accumulating at an exponential rate. But to reap actual benefits, we need to turn evidence into action and impacts through effective strategies. This process requires not only good intention and enthusiasm but findings from rigorous studies. Implementation science is such a discipline focusing on studying how to implement evidence-based practices to achieve real-world impacts. High-income countries are leading the way in the development of implementation science. Milestone events include the launch of the flagship journal “Implementation Science” in 2006, the first annual Conference on the Science of Dissemination and Implementation (D&I), in Health held in Washington DC, USA, in 2008, the forming of the Global Implementation Society in 2012, and the founding of European Implementation Collaborative in 2015.
Development of implementation science in Asia has trailed behind but picking up speed rapidly especially around 2021. We are excited to announce the inaugural Asian Conference on Implementation Science to be held in 2025 from November 12-14th on the campus of Southern Medical University in the vibrant city of Guangzhou, China. The theme of the conference is “Advancing Implementation Science in Asia: Bridging Research and Health for Five Billion People.” During this conference, we will formally launch the Asian Society for Implementation Science (ASIS). The ASIS planning group includes implementation scientists from over 18 Asian countries already. We sincerely look forward to your participation in this conference to jointly discuss the current status and future of scientific development implementation in Asia.
The unveiling of ASIS is a significant milestone but takes only 30 minutes. The three-day conference will be an academic feast featuring keynote speeches, organized sessions, concurrent oral sessions, poster presentations, and satellite meetings. Keynote speakers come from Asia as well as other countries and continents such as Africa, Australia, Germany, Latin America, the United Kingdom, and the United States. We have prepared a series of panels including implementation research, practices, and policy as well as dedicated sessions hosted by journal editors and funding agencies. Concurrent oral session speakers and poster presentations will be selected from open abstract submissions. We will invite experienced implementation experts to serve as chairs and discussants to make these sessions lively and more meaningful.
The entire conference will be live-streamed and online participation is welcome if in-person attendance is not possible for you. As co-chairs of the organizational and scientific committee for this conference, we cordially invite you to join us in Guangzhou, if you can. Even in this day and age of artificial intelligence and smooth virtual meetings, first-hand experiences will be unforgettable and unbeatable.
