China allows citizens from 55 specified countries to transit without a visa for up to 240 hours (10 days) under these conditions:
1.Eligible travelers must hold valid international travel documents and confirmed onward tickets to a third country/region.
2.Permitted activities include tourism, business meetings, and family visits (work, study, or journalism requires a visa). Transit routes must follow a three-leg journey (e.g., USA → Guangzhou → Singapore or Hong Kong).
3.Critical note: Travelers transiting via Hong Kong/Macau must formally enter the Special Administrative Region (e.g., clear immigration) to validate the transit status. U.S. citizens are advised to apply for a business visa instead. Covered countries: 40 European nations (e.g., UK, Germany, Russia), the U.S., Canada, Australia, Japan, South Korea, UAE, and 6 others (Source).
